At Queen’s Black Fashion Association, we stand for more than just fashion—we stand for creativity, culture, and community. Founded to carve out a space where Black voices, artistry, and perspectives can thrive, QBFA is more than a club; it’s a movement dedicated to uplifting and celebrating the influence of fashion, media, and the arts.
Designed by Shada Barkho, this piece features the Wisdom Knot (Nyansa Po), an Adinkra symbol representing intelligence, creativity, and lifelong learning. It signifies that wisdom isn’t just about knowledge but about applying that knowledge in a way that impacts and inspires others.
Paired with Sapientia et Scientia—Latin for “Wisdom and Knowledge,” and a nod to Queen’s University’s motto—this design bridges the rich traditions of both our heritage and academic excellence. It represents our mission to merge education with self-expression, to create spaces where students can challenge norms, redefine representation, and showcase the depth of Black creativity on campus.
This is more than just merch. It’s a statement of identity, resilience, and artistic vision. It’s for those who understand that fashion is not just about what you wear, but what you stand for.
